Marquise Shawn Mason, known as Shawn, has been a dedicated member of the Heart & Soul family since 2015, where he serves as an Officer of the Board. His passion for the organization, however, began long before this official role, having volunteered with Heart & Soul since 1999.  His steadfast commitment to community service has made him a key figure in the organization's mission to provide meaningful support and services to those in need.

In addition to his work with Heart & Soul, Shawn is a full-time longshoreman with Virginia International Terminals, where he plays an essential role in the state's vital shipping and logistics industry. His expertise extends beyond his role as a longshoreman; in 2008, Shawn earned his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), which allowed him to venture into the commercial trucking industry. Over the years, he has worked with several companies, including
his own venture, Matyzo LLC, where he successfully operated his own fleet of trucks.

Shawn's experience in business management goes beyond logistics. He has a deep background in caregiving services, having owned a boarding care facility for the mentally ill and assisted his mother in managing her own assisted living facility. Through this work, Shawn developed strong connections with other leaders in the healthcare industry, including the Bradley family, whom he met through the local association of assisted living facility owners. His
hands-on approach and commitment to quality care have earned him respect within the community.

Outside of his professional and volunteer commitments, Shawn enjoys spending time with his wife, Ednora, and their children. Whether they are vacationing, fishing, or simply relaxing together, family remains a central part of his life. Shawn's passion for balancing hard work, family life, and service to others exemplifies his dedication to both personal and professional growth.
